Futsal U-21: Youths keep on improving

14.01.17 Futsal U-21: Youths keep on improving

In last night's late fixture, Swieqi's U-21 Futsal Squad faced off to Qormi Futsal at Corradino.
Swieqi began the first half poorly once more, this time finding themselves 3-0 goals down within the opening minutes. However, just as seen in previous matches, this did not deter Swieqi's hopes or match preparations and the players put on a brave face to continue fighting.
Swieqi had a number of chances that went begging and also faced an in-form Qormi keeper. Qormi continued to build up their lead by adding a further two goals. Lydon Baldacchino pulled a goal back for Swieqi to make the score 5-1.
Despite Swieqi's best efforts to keep their opponents at bay and at the same time press for more goals, Qormi added another two goals to head into the half time break with a comfortable 7-1 lead.
The second half was a completely different story. Swieqi were buoyed with further confidence which saw them desperately knocking on Qormi's goal. Jamie Mangion, making his debut appearance for the U-21 team, added two goals to his name, along with another goal for Lydon and Karl Sciortino. Qormi could only added a further goal due to the pressure they found themselves under.
Swieqi could have reduced the scoreline further, however they were unlucky with a number of clear cut chances.
With a minute remaining for the end of the match, Qormi were awarded two free shots for the 6th and 7th foul respectively that were committed by Swieqi, with both chances being scored, resulting in a final score of 10-5 for Qormi.
Swieqi U-21 next take on Sliema on Tuesday 31st January at 9.15pm at Corradino.
