Coaching clinic: Presenting guest coach Michele Santoni!

26.05.16 Coaching clinic: Presenting guest coach Michele Santoni!

It is really great to have coaches of this calibre who have agreed to fly down and share their knowledge and experiences with us! Here is some more information about these guys who are definitely the cream of the crop in youth football coaching!

The very first guest coach is Michele Santoni! Michele is the current U17 and U19 coach of S.S. Lazio.

After having to prematurely interrupt his career as a footballer due to injury, Michele took to coaching various teams in Trentino, where he was born. Aided by his Dutch ancestry and his knowledge of the languge, Michele moved on to coaching in youth set up of Harlem, a satellite club of AFC Ajax. It was only a matter of time until his passion and eye for detail were spotted by Ajax and in 2009 he moved to AFC Ajax as part of the first team coaching staff with the task of pioneering the video-analysis department of the club. He spent 5 years at Ajax working closely with first team managers Frank De Boer and Martin Jol, as well as players like Luis Suàrez, Jan Verthongen, Daley Blind, Christian Eriksen and Bojan Krkić.

In 2014, Coach Di Carlo brought Michele as his right hand man to lead the first team Serie B club Livorno, and successively Cesena. In the past season Michele moved to S.S. Lazio joining the staff of Dutch Head Coach Joop Lensen, where he was tasked with the development of the U17 squad. Thanks to his work, many U17 players were promoted to the U19 squad and even made their debuts towards the end of the season when Coach Santoni took over the U19 squad after the promotion of Simone Inzaghi to first team.

We look forward to welcoming Michele and are very eager to hear about his philosophy and coaching experiences!

The Coaching Clinic will run from Friday 3rd June to Sunday 5th June and is open for all coaches and players born 2001-2004. Book as soon as possible because there are limited places!
