06.04.16 Swieqi Futsal secure 5th place

Last night Swieqi and Msida Futsal faced each other in a match which Swieqi wanted to win to secure a respectable 5th place finish in the league, competing in Malta's elite round of fixtures!

The first half was a one-way traffic game, with Swieqi having numerous chances to score, however they found an in-form Msida custodian who blocked and saved shot after shot! This certainly frustrated Swieqi who could not find a way to build on their dominance. Against the luck of play, Msida took a surprise 1-0 lead with 31 seconds left to play on the clock when a swift counter attack led to their opening goal.

Swieqi were shocked from conceding, however they emerged for the second half looking rejuvenated and rearing to go once more. In fact Andre Cianco scored a beautiful shot from far out to bring the Owls level. However Swieqi's joys were short lived for a minute later Msida again took the lead!

Backed by a sizeable crowd of supporters, Swieqi upped their game and Bobo equalised 2-2 from a lovely free kick. Msida refused to give up and were unlucky to see an effort of theirs cannon off the crossbar a minute later! The scare sprung Swieqi into life and Jean Bert put Swieqi in the lead a minuted later. Swieqi again had numerous chances that went begging and some uneasiness at the back almost gifted Msida further goals!

With 2 minutes remaining, Wizu blasted in a wonder shot to put Swieqi further ahead 4-2. In the last minute Jean Bert ensured victory was Swieqi's with a 5th goal and a final scoreline of 5-2 which led to celebrations in front of the Orange army.

Swieqi will now bring down the curtain on this incredible season on Friday 8th April at 9.45pm when they take on Hamrun Spartans at Corradino.
