Swieqi gears up for 3 important matches

09.03.15 Swieqi gears up for 3 important matches

As Malta begins to welcome in the sunshine, Swieqi prepare for an intense week of league games for their respective teams. Below we take a look at the upcoming matches for SUFC.

On Tuesday 10th March, our minors team are back in action after more than a month out when they take on St. Georges in a league game from Youth League Section E. Swieqi currently find themselves top of the league and are very close to obtaining a first historic promotion to Section D.
St. Georges will definitely give the young owls a run for their money when one looks at the improvements they have done during the January transfer window. They even managed to hold second place Xghajra in a scoreless draw.
Coach Mifsud will be weary of the potential that St. Georges have, however the young owls have shown that they are a lethal team when it comes to scoring goals.
This will certainly be an entertaining game and we urge everyone to come and support the team at 8.15pm at Sirens Stadium.

On Friday 13th March our futsal team take on current futsal champions Balzan at 8pm at Corradino. Swieqi have surprised everybody this season and are 4 games shy of finding themselves in the play offs. Balzan have not had the best of seasons so far, finding themselves in 3rd place. They will certaintly be careful how they play their game, knowing that Swieqi have demonstrated how they can quickly surge into attack and at the same time fall back down to defend. Coach Zvezdan has already made his intentions clear that he wishes the team to reach the play offs.
Come and support the team - Entrance is free!

The next day, Saturday 14th March, Swieqi seniors are in action at Luxol Stadium when they take on Dingli Swallows at 4.15pm. This is a game where both sets will be looking to secure vital points for their survival intentions in the second division. After starting off the season positively, Swieqi have had a bumper roller coaster ride. After losing points against teams bellow them, Swieqi defeated the odds when they beat Zejtun Corinthians who had been on a 5 match winning streak. Dingli also got the better of Dingli two weeks ago, defeating them 2-0. This will certainly offer a thriller to all fans present, and we urge all to come and give their support to the young owls !
