On Monday night Swieqi United minors faced bottom placed Zurrieq at Sirens.

The game kicked off with a fast break from Zurrieq but the defence coped well to clear the ball. Just after 10 minutes Swieqi were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position and Dean Grech stepped up to place it perfectly in the back of the net.

The young Owls kept on pressing to add another when a beautiful through ball from Matteo Caribotti put Nicholas Schembri in a one on one situation with the keeper but it was saved. On the half hour mark a low cross from Luca Borg flew past the the keeper and defence leaving an easy tap in for newcomer Matteo Caribotti. Ten minutes later the owls made it 3 - 0 with another easy tap in from Caribotti, this time the assist coming from a free kick.

Within a couple of minutes from the start of the second half, Matteo Caribotti made it 3 on his debut with a close strike after dribbling 2 defenders. 10mins later Swieqi were awarded a penalty for a late tackle from Zurrieq. Luke Pace stepped up to the penalty spot but shot it high. Zurrieq made it 4-1 with a magnificent strike from way out catching the defenders and keeper by surprise. Fernando Fenech made it 5 with an amazing volley. The orange did not stop there and it was time for Mark Martin to add his name to the score sheet when he broke through the defence at speed from halfway line bringing him one on one with the keeper and slotting it past him with ease. Zurrieq pulled one back with a shot from right outside the penalty area after a rebound from a dangerous corner. Five minutes from time Luca Borg curled one in from long range making it 7.
