13.10.15 Youth Policy the key at Swieqi United F.C.
‘The player you produce is much better than the player you bring in’ – Sir Alex’s statement couldn’t be further from the truth as this philosophy is currently being adopted at Swieqi United. In this connection, introducing youngsters is no easy task and a good environment must be created in order to ensure that young players blossom.
This year already saw the introduction of youngster Luca Borg who has already featured prominently in the first team. Besides Borg, Dean Grech, Thomas Camilleri and Benji Frendo have formed part of the wider Seniors training group with the intention of slowly introducing these promising players into the first team.
More positive news for the club is that in only their second year of existence, the Under 17 squad will be competing in Section B, ensuring that next year’s Under 19s squad will also remain competitive. This club culture of investing in youth is part of Swieqi’s five year plan which will primarily focus on giving youth a chance.
Young players willing to join the club are invited to do so by sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Judging by the club’s positive results and excellent coaching staff, bright pastures lie ahead in this fantastic football club.
